Practitioners who engage in action research inevitably find it to be an empowering experience. Action research (AR) is a research approach that is grounded in practical action (the action component) while at the same time focused on generating, informing and building theory (the research Participant Action Research, or Action Research for short, is a highly participatory, experiential, and reflective research method in which the dominant purpose is to foster social change. That definition states that action research is a disciplined process of inquiry conducted by and for those taking the action.
